The Cabin and Just Being Me

I've posted about our little cabin in the past.  It's a place so dear to my heart that I actually talk to it.  Saying hello and goodbye........with an occasional I love you little cabin thrown in!  The man said I can't love an inanimate object..........he is so wrong!!!

With all the issues we have been dealing with at home the cabin has been on the back burner.  Earlier this week I said we need to go, we as a couple really need to go!  Do you get my drift?
So Friday after work off we went.

Friday night was pleasant, drank some wine with much missed friends and basically just settled in.  The weekend forecast was hot and hotter so we made plans with friends to boat out to the sandbar and basically just hang out for the afternoon.

We spent the morning sprinkling the extremely dry lawn and my poor flowers.  Then off we went with our little red wagon overflowing with floaty chairs and coolers.  No sooner than we got there (literally 5 minutes) the weather shifted and the unexpected storms started rolling in.  We didn't make it out on the boat, but still had an enjoyable time and loved the time with my toes in the sand.

We came back to the cabin and made some awesome chicken breast on the grill. I went by the local butcher and bought them earlier.  I don't know where they get there chickens out here but those babies were awesome.  I really need to get away from the tasteless boneless breasts we buy at the grocery!

The rain stayed with us all evening which supported a much needed nap.  I'm not a nap person, I always feel disoriented when I wake up which is what happened when I woke up at 9p.m. and then stayed up until 2 am.

We were going to stay for a while today but the rain is still pitter patting on the roof this morning so I suppose we will pack up and head home around noon.

Hope you all had a great weekend and a great Fathers Day.  Don't forget to support your local Dad and give him a big hug from me!

  2. Your cabin is just what dreams are made of. Ahhhhhhhh, sigh. Glad you were able to get away for a bit. Now I feel like I need to search out a butcher. I've never bought meat at a real butcher shop.

  3. Tammy--Our family has a place very similar and over the years it has been used many times for therapeutic reasons. The flowers in this photo look lovely.

  4. What beautiful flowers. It looks divine and like a wonderful place to escape to in times of stress or just anytime. I could be happy sitting under a tree reading a book and drinking some ice tea.

  5. Tammy you are so lucky to have this place. It is such an adorable place to sneek away to. I love the cabin stories. I picture myself having some sort of getaway someday. The outside is just as sweet with the flowers as the inside. How are you feeling? Any better with things going on at home? How is work? Sorry I have been a bit absent, I hope you know I still adore you. dawn suitcase vignettes xo
