Wacky Weekend

This was a pretty wacky weekend.  Friday afternoon/evening we got 8" of snow.  I work in the transportation industry and when you mix snow, trucks and Chicago traffic it's a nightmare.  By the time I finally left work my head was literally spinning and I couldn't wait to get home to fluffy pants and Muc Lucs.

Saturday we made the 30 minute drive to Orland Park Mall.  My Iphone needed a new camera lens and I kept getting a mysterious pop up.  Come to find out one little tiny bit of moisture got in the charging port which qualified me for a new phone.......So they wanted me to back up my information before switching phones and that meant another trip to the mall today.
So after two 30 minute trips and 4 hours at the Apple store I have a new phone but it's not activated.  Thanks Verizon!!!!!!!!
While waiting for my appointment at the Apple store (two times) I spent way to much time at the mall.
As many of you know I am not much of a retail shopper.  Actually I hate retail shopping.  I have one local store I go to that has great clearance prices.  The name of it is Carson's,  it's owned by Bon Ton, you probably have one in your area.  Check it out!
But, put me in a mall and I'm in total panic mode.  I don't know if it's all of the people, to many choices or in a wacky way lack of control.  I just don't enjoy it.
I did make my first trip to Forever 21 and H & M.  Neither store impressed me.  But I'm not anywhere close to 21 so what do I care.

Today I am linking up to Patti @ Not dead yet style for visible Monday and Two Birds Inspiration Monday  I will show two outfits.  I don't think I've ever done that before.  I really hated the inspiration outfit pics I took.  I just wasn't happy with any part of the result.
So then I put on my real outfit to go to the mall and lunch with the Man.  I was much happier with those results.  So once again trial and error inspiration and visible effects.
Taking your own pictures is to say the least awkward.  It is a helpful tool.  One look at my first outfit sent me running right back to my friend the closet!

Just found a fun link up so head on over and check out  In Honor of Design

Here is the Two Birds inspiration.

And yes, I actually own two vintage tuxedo jackets.

This is what I actually wore.

  1. Hi Tammy! I am so with you about malls - I feel like a fish out of water there too. I really like your black, white and gray outfits. And you know how to wear a scarf and make it sing! Thanks for linking up to Visible Monday.

  5. Hey Tammy! I like the all black outfit although it looks more like "Night on the town with the gals" than "Malling It" because to me, the second one is more casual - Prob the jacket that makes it more fancy! Either way, you're lookin chic doll!

  6. I just really really like all black! It looks classy and elegant! I'm with you on F21 and H&M. I don't have much luck with the sizing. Also, I'm past the point of looking for trends. You nailed it girly! Hugs! ~Serene

  7. The mall can make me really crazy too. I have to have a plan and be in-and-out. Less than an hour. Four? You poor thing! I would have needed a drink......(even chai would do!)
I've been so bad at linking up--so sorry! Will try....

  8. Tammy I love both outfits on you. Striped shirt looks gorg. on you. I can't stand the mall either...too many choices. I like the thrift because it limits my choices and I can afford just about everything in there. We are having yucky weather here too. I need a little sunshine darling. Dawn Suitcase Vignettes xo

  9. I love both outfits. I like you in all black. The second outfit looks more you though.
How do you keep your hair so perfect? You never have a bad hair day.
The only think I like in Forever 21 is the jewelry and we don't have H&M here. I used to spend more time at the mall, but lately it is rare for me to go there and if I go it is usually just to Dillard's.

  10. You look great in both outfits! I really dig that tuxedo jacket! I could do some major damage if I had 4 hours at the mall! :)

  11. I think malls intimidate me because of the way things are arrayed. They look so much better in the store than they do on me when I get home. I like both versions of your outfit.

  12. I'm not much of a retail shopper either and just stepped foot into Forever 21 for the first time a couple of weeks ago (but loved the sales!) I've been having such issues with my blackberry I've been thinking of switching over to an i-phone but sounds like you haven't been having great luck! I love both outfits- I really love you in all black and the tuxedo jacket is so stylin!

  13. Love both outfits on you.
I'm not a mall shopper either. I've been in Forever 21 a couple of times, but just shopped for jewelry. Oh, and I love your boots in first pic. I keep seeing everyone wearing these great boots with pants tucked in. Due to my stupid calves it's difficult to find boots large enough for this purpose. I'm still looking, but will only buy them if they're thrifted cuz I'm hooked and crazy that way now. haha I have one pair, but I want higher ones that come up nearly to the knees like yours.

  14. I love the second look on you. The stripes--against conventional wisdom--make you look very thin.

  15. 8 inches of snow?!! WOW! You look lovely in both looks despite the inclement weather and annoying side effects:)

  16. you look so good in the tuxedo jacket and boots, very modern edgy style. The second one is casual parisian chic, I like the soft flowy cardi and scarf, very feminine monochrome outfit.
