Inspiration Monday

This weekend was quite a lot of fun! We went to a 50th. birthday party in a small lake community near Lake Michigan. It is quite an eclectic group of people and I enjoyed the hell out of it.
I'll add some pictures at the bottom of my post.

I do need some advice. I did a link up on Friday and let it run through Monday noon. I thought it would be fun to take a trend through the decades with my blogging buddies. I wanted this to be a weekly link but I was disappointed in the level of participation. (Don't worry the tears have dried!)
My question to you is. What can I do to make it a more successful link up?
Wrong timing? To soon? The dead plant behind me in the photo?
I think this idea could be a lot of fun I just need to know what I can do to make it more successful.
As Forest Gump said "That's all I have to say about that".
What Fall trend would you like to see next week?

This week I am linking up with the adorable Two birds http://twobirdsboutique.blogspot.com/  and Patti over at http://notdeadyetstyle.blogspot.com for inspiration Monday.
Click on over and see the fun.
My inspiration is the lovely Maggie Gyllenhaal. I promised no more maxi's until I was wearing boots and you can bet I have them on.

My outfit.
Skirt: thrifted............love it!! 1.50. It's a mix of velvet and crinkly fabric. I did have to take it in, I think it needs another inch or so off the waist.
Turtle neck: thrifted, and quite old.
Vintage Tuxedo jacket. Gifted and loved.  I think I would actually wear my jean jacket.  I have pretty boxy shoulders and this doesn't help!
Enough boring details............And just have fun with it!

Weekend fun!

  2. Hi Tammy! I love your crinkled skirt and your necklaces are sooo great. Please don't worry about your link up. It takes time for the word to get out, and I think it is a great idea. Maybe do a post a couple of days before, reminding your readers that it's coming up?
Thanks so much for participating in Visible Monday! (I only had three participants the first couple of weeks).
Oh, for future themes, how about colorful cardigans, or favorite boots, or a favorite Fall handbag?

  4. I think it just takes time. I wanted to do the link up, but I have just been so preoccupied with other things these days (like getting a job, for example). Fall is just such a busy time for everybody ... keep posting your link up, and i am sure that you will get the response.

  6. Tammy, you were successful. I want to participate. I intended to the day I said I would but I could not find my photos thru Piccasa web albums. Bummer. I am in don't worry. The participation will grow don't worry. Great skirt and I love how you paired it with the longer blazer...Dawn suitcase Vignettes xo

  7. Tammy, I am sorry, I did not realize that there was a time limit! I have been waiting for a cooler day to wear my jewel tones. I should've read the post better. I just misunderstood the link up. Please forgive me! I promise to do better next time.
Your outfit is so 'you' and it looks fabulous!

  8. Okay-here's my advice on the link up. I've found that fridays are generally not the best day to do things in the blogging community. On fridays and weekends less people blog and want to spend their time participating because they are doing 'real world' things. Also, the longer you leave the window open, the more time people have to participate and since everyone's busy these days I think it gives them an opportunity to find a time that works for them. All that said, you were succesful! It takes a *long time* to build up a link up. At least for me. I've gotten my highest number of participants after spending hours and hours promoting it on other blogs. So give it some time!

  9. what a fun birthday! Love the cake. Dearie, don't be discouraged it will probably take some time for people to get into a link up. Maybe you can do a button, I can help you create one just email me the picture you like. A button will help to promote your link up. You look fabulous, your skirt is stunning and $1.50 is amazing! Love the necklace too!
